Purely Charming - Fine Silver Charms: This is a project class where the students will use metal clay to make their own individual .999 fine silver charms. Basic cutting, shaping, & finishing techniques will be taught. Depending on size, approx. 5 - 7 individual charms can be made. All tools provided for class use. Class will have 1 half-hour break. Projects will be kiln fired by the instructor or torch fired by the student and may not be ready until the Wednesday after class. Class fee $50. ($45 if registered by 7/16) Materials fee $40. Pre-registration required. (class may run over) String It! A basic class where students will create 2 necklaces or 1 necklace and 1 bracelet (student's choice), and pair of earrings. Materials including: Semi-Precious Gemstone beads, Pearls, Swarovski Crystal, and Sterling Silver & Copper findings. Students will be taught knotting for an “illusion” necklace, how to open and close a jump ring, how to use crimp beads & crimp pliers, wire protectors, headpins, and extender/safety chain. (Practice will be done with copper findings.) Other stringing/finishing methods and materials will be discussed. All tools provided for class use. Class will have 1 half-hour break. Class fee $70. ($65 if registered by 7/23) Materials fee $25 Pre-registration required. Byzantine Chain Bracelet Join us to make this impressive looking weave that is still relatively easy to learn. We will be using Argentium Sterling Silver rings which are much more tarnish resistant than traditional sterling, to make the chain and we will finish it off with a sterling silver toggle or lobster claw clasp. Metal Clay Mania Come join in the fun and learn to make your very own one-of-a-kind jewelry out of pure silver in clay form! After firing you finished work will be 99.9% pure silver. This is a class for beginners and those who have worked with metal clay before. The first project will be a basic pendant or earrings for all skill levels, the second will be a pendant with a faceted stone set and fired in the clay. Just some of the techniques covered will be repairs, coil rolling, texturing, joining, stone setting, and polishing. We will also discuss different firing methods, times & temperatures, adding patinas, different bail types, and the uses for the different metal clays on the market. Students also have the option of having their finished work fired in the kiln at the shop for a year after the class as well as studio time (must be arranged in advance & take place during store hours). All tools provided for class use. The 1st project will be torch fired by the student. The 2nd will be kiln fired by the instructor and will not be ready until the Wednesday after the class. (class may run over) Helm Chain Bracelet Join us to make this beautiful bracelet in the age old art of chain maille. This weave is a more open work yet elegant looking design that lends itself to many other uses in jewelry making. Metal Clay Earrings: This is a project class where each student will use their own creativity to make 2 – 4 pairs of their own one-of-a-kind earrings that will be .999 Fine Silver after firing. Basic cutting, shaping, & finishing techniques will be taught. Students will have the option of torch firing or kiln firing their projects. Kiln fired projects will be fired by the instructor and will be ready for pick-up the Wednesday after class. Earring number to be determined by the amount of metal clay each student uses per pair of earrings. More metal clay can be purchased to use during the class. All tools provided for class use. There will be a ½ hour lunch break. Class fee $50. ($45 if registered by 8/13) Materials fee $45. Pre-registration required. Project Class Only
